Fiberglass: The Perfect Sump Containment Lining:

Look across the floor of nearly any industrial, food processing or wastewater treatment facility and you will see a patchwork of steel and colorful fiberglass grating. Have you ever paused to think about what is below those grates? Believe it or not, the answer to this question may very well generate sales.

Over the past hundred plus years, industrial building and site designers have handled process liquid (water or chemical) spills with large scale drainage. This maze of large and small below grade sumps are connected by piping and/or trenches that leads to holding tanks or wells and finally to the treatment areas. These below grade structures are often fabricated from concrete and lined with steel, stainless steel, polymer coatings, brick, tile or even heat-welded PVC-type plastic.

The purpose of lining these systems is to reduce and avoid leakage into the ground and ground water contamination. Regulations for positive containment vary from state to state. Traditional linings, such as those mentioned above, have not been very effective at containing leakage or avoiding costly contamination. Often times the installation of these liners requires long periods of production shut-down, the use of hazardous materials in the production areas and long-lasting odors that can be a source of product contamination.

Virtual Polymer Compounds, LLC offers cost-effective solutions to these problems. A simple fiberglass sump lining and containment system can be fabricated to nearly any size and shape to meet the needs of any application. Our sump lining systems can be constructed and installed on-site to accommodate your needs. Our experienced staff can help seal pipe penetrations and trench entry/exit points as well. Installation can often be accomplished in a matter of hours with little or no interruption of facility operations.

Typical fiberglass containment systems can be fabricated from a number of different resin bases to provide protection in nearly all chemical environments. The liners provide complete operation versatility and can handle the coldest temperature extremes up to live steam. These systems are your solution for positive waste stream containment and can be installed quickly, cost-effectively, as well as meet the regulatory demands in all fifty states.

The next time you walk through an industrial site or water treatment facility, look across the floor and think about what type of lining system is underneath and whether it is time to upgrade and install a fiberglass sump lining and containment system for complete contamination control. VPC has the innovative solutions to help your business grow and prosper.
